The Emcees
Stephanie Cuevas

Stephanie Cuevas is Senior Vice President of Federal Government Affairs for California’s Credit Unions and Nevada’s Credit Unions. A proud credit union member since 1992, she is grateful for the opportunity to advance legislative policies that support credit union members in achieving financial wellbeing and generational wealth.
In her role at the Leagues, Stephanie leads a robust advocacy strategy that enhances and protects credit union operation. She is uniquely positioned to develop messaging that connects with legislators because of her prior experience working in Washington, DC. Stephanie previously served as a policy advisor to three Members of Congress and led a legislative team for Congressman Pete Aguilar. One of her greatest achievements was passing legislation that saved credit unions from paying additional fees to the NCUA.
Stephanie graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in American Studies and was a graduation speaker for the Class of 2012. In June 2024, she completed the Credit Union Development Education (CUDE) program.
Stephanie believes in breaking down complex policies to empower local advocates when communicating with legislators. She proudly advocates for credit unions in the nation’s capital and supports the movement’s mission of “people helping people.” Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys watching her son’s little league games, swimming and spending time with family.
